THIS BLOG IS NOT POLITICAL
I promised to stay away from politics and I’m (sort-of) keeping my promise.
The problem is that nearly everything today IS political. Simple things like trips to the grocery store. Or the gas station. Newpapers, magazines, social media and all things television. Everything has a political bias/edge.
The Mister and I are pretty close to being hermits but politics still infuse our daily lives. And, I think it’s safe to say, there’s not much joy in that. Most of us are negatively affected, in one way or another, by our current political scene. How we deal with it is up to us.
It takes me back to my very first Presidential election. John Kennedy was the man of the hour. Oh, his family, the elegance, the excitement! It enthralled most of us whether or not we voted for him. I also remember open and frequently heated discussions about his candidacy and positions. What fun that was and nary a friend was lost in the process. Can we even Imagine such a thing today?
Spirited conversations, differing opinions and lively table talk may be lost to us. We can only hope it’s a temporary thing.
