Yes, we do! 

I’ve been of that opinion for many years but if I ever needed a reminder, I got it this week. All I had to do was watch the opening ceremony of the Obama Center in South Chicago on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

Jennifer Hudson sang our National Anthem as it’s never been sung before.  It was breathtaking, powerful, exhilarating.  The younger generation would say it was “awesome.”  

After Jennifer Hudson, Michelle Obama took the stage. And did she ever. She delivered a speech that was equally breathtaking, powerful and exhilarating.  And, of course, awesome.

They left their audiences in Chicago, our country and the world happier and wiser than we were before.   Neither missed a beat.  Neither hit a wrong note.  And for that, we thank them deeply.

There’s no need to say more.  It would be redundant at best.  It was, simply put, an honor to watch, see and hear those woman in action.  They give us inspiration and they give us hope.
