Good Morning

I had a nice little blog all set to go today.  It was a bit silly, not meant to cause any thought or any angst. That’s the best kind of blog, I think.  Fun to write; fun to read. At least I hope so..

Alas.  This morning, my brain went down another path and, in spite of my better judgement, I felt a responsibility to speak to a different reality.  Specifically, to the reality of hunger in America right now. I can’t ignore the situation. To do so feels wrong. So here are a few of my quick thoughts on the situation.

Both political parties are screwing with our needy, our homeless, our hungry.  When did we become so hardened?  So hardened to the health, well-being, and safety of those of us who are less fortunate?

No answer comes easily.  And so, we shake our heads in disappointment and concern.  Maybe we appease ourselves by saying that this, too, will pass. We don’t know that for sure, of course.  At the moment, those who SHOULD care deeply and have the power to do something about it, seem disinclined to do so.

But WE can be proactive. WE can help. So pick up a pen, right this very minute, and write a check to your local food bank.  It’s a small step. But a solid, tangible, meaningful step.  As NIKE says: “Just Do It!” Tell ‘em a crazy old lady told you to “ just do it.” You’ll be glad you did. Others will, too.
