WOULDN’T IT BE LOVERLY?
If we could get the occasional peek into others’ minds? Not to be nosy but to spark interesting, potentially constructive, conversation.
The divisiveness in our country has stifled much thought, reason, humor, and creativity. All too often, we’re afraid to share our own thoughts with others lest we offend, step on toes, or, even worse, induce anger.
Who doesn’t remember the old adage: “Step on a crack; break your mother’s back.” I remember being very, very careful as I walked down the street in front of our house. It sure took the fun out of walking but didn’t want harm to come to my mother. I find myself walking just as carefully on those metaphorical streets these days. Where’s the fun in that?
I’d truly like to hear from those who think differently than I do. After all, it gets a little dull when you hear the same thoughts you’ve already heard. Many, many times over. And from your own head.
But, is it too late? Have we gone too far in the interest of political correctness? Maybe so. But, then again, maybe not. We won’t know until we give it whirl.
