WHEW! WE’RE FINALLY DOING IT AGAIN. AND NOT A MINUTE TOO SOON!
It’s been quite a while. Too long if one really stops to think about it.
But we’ve been busy. Moving can really take the stuffing out of a person. There’s not much oomph left at the end of the day for anything but sleep.
But we looked each other in the eyes the other day and said: “We’ve just got to get back to it. The absence is not good for anyone. We’ve missed the fun, the joy, the laughter.”
It’s time, we said, and we can only hope we’ve haven’t waited too long.
So off we went to the television and turned on Amazon Prime. And there it was. Thank Goodness. The Frasier reruns were still rerunning! We’re now deep into the second season. Again.
And so, the laughter returns. As always, we appreciate the smart and clever dialogue. We marvel at the writers, the actors, the fun they must have had making the show and the joy they’ve given us. Over and over in many cases. (Like ours!)
We appreciate the fact that they spared us the coarse language that’s taken over so much of the current comedy. The f-word is seriously overused, trite and not even remotely funny these days. The Frasier writers had the wisdom to understand that. And we thank them most sincerely for that.
I don’t know if our children or grandchildren realize that comedy doesn’t have to be repetitively profane, totally mindless or in-your-face and over the top. Subtle and intelligent humor goes a lot further in our minds but maybe not in theirs. And that makes me sad. But never sad enough to stop us from laughing with Frasier. Thank goodness for reruns! Long may they live.
