Dear Kennedy Center:

I enclose a very, very small check.  It may be but a pittance it comes all wrapped up with hope.

I’ve never been to the Kennedy Center and will most likely never have the opportunity to do so.  I know with great certainty that you bring the finest of the finest to your audiences.  And that you do so with grace and style.  Bravo!

You also “take chances” on newcomers, offering opportunities for many to fulfill their very own dreams and hopes. If you would be so kind, please put my very, very small check into that particular pot. 

President Kennedy brought hopes and dreams to many.  His vision was broad and inclusive.  The Center keeps that vision alive.  May that continue to be the case for many years to come.

It seems appropriate, at this moment, to quote WW II General Joseph Stillwell who said: “Don’t let the bastards grind you down.”  Or, sadly, in this instance, “TEAR you down.”

We’re here. So many are right here. Right now. Doing what we can to preserve such a fine institution.
